This is a long term consulting opportunity with our direct client in Bridgewater, NJ for a Big Data Architect.  The right candidate will have Senior level experience with Big Data related concepts and technologies. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Technology Architect for Enterprise Data Platform is responsible for assessing current state architecture
• and developing future state architecture and device a strategy, roadmap and a plan.
• Partner with senior IT leaders at every level to define, develop, document and communicate the technical requirements and solutions.
• Develop conceptual, logical and physical architecture for Enterprise Data Platform(s).
• Build detailed technical design for Enterprise Data Platform solution(s)
• Define non‐functional requirements, document business and strategic requirements.
• Research, identify and evaluate technical trends and enable technologies based on industry best practices, test and learn, POCs and leverage past learnings.
• Lead and drive multiple architecture initiatives in parallel, track and drive to closure.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of IT experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross‐ functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
• 5+ years of application design hands on and code development, preferably in Java related technologies.
• 5+ years of Big Data experience.
• Prior experience architecting Big Data and/or other Data Platforms.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to effectively articulate the e2e architecture via words and pictures, influence decision making across the organization.
• Ability to solve problems holistically with systems thinking approach
• Experience in Metadata Management, Data Catalog, Data Governance and Data Lineage.
• Expert in Architecting big data platform
• Experience in delivering global solutions across multiple data centers
• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
• Prior experience in methodical tools evaluations and have the ability to map tools to architecture
• Ability to work with Infrastructure and Platform teams to drive non‐functional requirements
• Ability to work with developers to drive wireframes, POCs and test & learn activities
• In‐depth understanding of database structure principles
• Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
• Expert in SQL, No‐SQL and RDBMS concepts

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES (Not Mandatory)

• Familiarity with technologies like Java, Gemfire, Greenplum, Hadoop, Hbase & Teradata.
• Familiar with API Management and preferable Apigee tool.
• Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Spotfire).
• Familiarity with Data As A Service model.
• Familiar with SaaS, IaaS and PaaS models.
• Familiar with cryptographic and data encryption techniques.
• Knowledge of health care and supply chain domain area.
• Familiar with GxP, SOX & HIPAA requirements.
• Familiar with UI/UX design
