Senior Data Architect

Primary Purpose and Goal

Responsible for the architecture that defines the data layer of the IT landscape as directed by the Head of Application Delivery on behalf of the ITS Global Chief Architect. To effect the successful technical design and implementation of Data Architecture artifacts in accordance to IT Standards and Global practices.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Plan and define the successful implementation of Data Architecture artifacts within member firm and global environments, the role will:
  • Be dedicated to the Chief Architect as their trusted advisor and representative in any Data Architecture related matter as required
  • Define, plan and monitor the technical alignment of Global/Regional/Local Data Architecture related artifacts with respect to supporting Enterprise Architecture and Strategy.
  • Guide and advise in the determination of requirements for all aspects of Data Architecture (governance, life-cycle management, interchange etc..) including: documentation, workshops, forums, training and contribute to their development and delivery. Coordinate these activities and other communications as directed by ITS Global
  • Work with Global/Regional/Local IT teams to help them align on an Enterprise wide Data Architecture, plan and facilitate the artifacts required to effect data interchange between systems and build corresponding consensus with the business and member firm IT organizations.
  • Participate as required in any technical task as directed by the Head of Application Delivery

  • Experienced team manager and providing team leadership - define work tasks, set priorities, ensure proper utilization, monitor and report on progress
  • Experience in a global team matrix environment
  • Experience with architecting enterprise solutions
  • Capable of forward thinking and of moving strategic plans into action
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, developing team members and being a role model
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document and communicate technical information to IT Leadership, the business as well as IT organizations.
  • International experience with the ability to work in a diverse work environment across cultures and time-zones; available to travel (internationally) at short notice and host/attend international calls outside of standard working hours

Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight years’ experience as a Data Architect
  • Minimum fifteen years’ experience in delivery of enterprise systems and architectures
  • Strong experience as a technical leader on successful large programs with the ability to manage multi-disciplined teams in a global IT organization.
  • Experience with Enterprise level Data Architecture programs, defining Data Architecture views starting with Conceptual, into Logical, and Physical. Experienced in defining Data Architecture Governance programs, including Ownership, Data Lifecycle process, Data Modeling, data dictionaries. Experience working on Integration programs, knowledge of Industry data formats
  • TOGAF 9.x certified. Experienced working with Enterprise Architecture tools such as Troux, Mega, Alfabet, Orbus
  • Ideally with prior experience working at Big 4, Investment Banking or Audit
  • Knowledge of application, database, system, and network design
  • Confidence in dealing with staff, managers and partners across the firm
  • Good knowledge of regional issues and structures, ability to work with people from many different cultural backgrounds


Education / Academics:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Computer Science or related field
