This is a long term consulting opportunity with our direct client in Woodcliff Lake, NJ for a Senior Business Analyst.

The Senior Business Analyst will work with Senior and Executive Level international business leaders from across the globe to define and agree requirements, user stories/use cases, acceptance criteria and change management implications for new and enhanced technology solutions.  The Senior Business Analyst consults with the Business Unit in the development of Business Requirements and leads the effort to translate Business Requirements into System Requirements.

Responsibilities:

The Business Analyst is a consultant to the Business Unit who will apply facilitative, elicitation, analytical, writing and presentation skills to assist the Business Unit in development of Business Requirements through:

Identification, definition, and elaboration of a Business Need or Problem, which may often be high level, lacking in detail, and imprecisely understood.

Analysis of a Business Need or Problem

Development of one or more Alternative Business Solutions Documentation and Presentation in a clear and unambiguous style of the Business Solution including:

Clear Statement of the Business Need or Problem Business Benefits or Goals of the Solution Business Rules Business Relationships Business Definitions Business Process Issues and Risks Impacts (such as: to related business policies, organizations, or processes, training, IT architecture) 

Skills: Collect, analyze, design and document business and functional requirements. Input to test plans to ensure data integrity. Define requirements for data access, security, and quality. Apply concepts of data management systems and their applications to critically assess the effectiveness and efficiency of data elements.

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the translation of the Business Requirements into System Requirements, which describe what the system, process, or product and its involved actors must do to fulfill the business requirements. The Business Analyst must make the System Requirements understandable and acceptable to such involved groups as:

Business Unit Management      

IT Technologists providing the IT solution part of the system Operations and Support Specialists Communications Specialists Change Management Specialists Training Specialists QA and UAT Analysts

The Business Analyst develops and presents artifacts describing the System Requirements including, as appropriate:

Presentations and Diagrams

Process Flows (using BPMN)

Entity Relationship Diagrams

Use Cases & User Stories

Other Requirements Documents as appropriate to document and communicate the System Requirements.

The Senior Business Analyst will also be responsible for tracing the requirements during implementation to ensure that the developed system is consistent and in scope with the determined system requirements.

The Senior Business Analyst frequently closely assists or directs the testing function in development and evaluation of test cases and test results.

The Senior Business Analyst frequently manages change for the system development project for which the analyst developed the system requirements. Work with business partners across multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.  Elicit, identify, develop and write the business, data and functional requirements.

Contribute to development of test cases/test approach. May validate test results during testing. Investigate, resolve and escalate project issues related to defining and analyzing business requirements.

Education: Skills/competencies:

Possess knowledge of techniques and deliverables for analyzing and documenting logical relationships among the business, processes, or events within information technology systems – including dimensional modeling. Understand the principles and practices involved in planning, managing, and implementing projects and programs. Strong communications skills. Must be comfortable working in a global environment.  Also some possible US and international travel involved

Knowledge of HP Quality Center (HP ALM) and VSTS would be a plus. 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent in computer science or related discipline

Strong experience with Word, Excel, Project, Visio SharePoint, Power Point, preferably exposure to HP ALM
